God intends for our good works to be on display. Not to be confused with showmanship, this is only for His glory. We are to shine (Proverbs 20:27) (Matthew 5:16), sing (Psalm 100), and shout (Psalm 35:27), His glory. We do this by demonstrating His love and becoming the physical manifestation of His loving-kindness. But as another layer of reinforcement of the words from Matthew 6:1-4, not practicing our righteousness in front of others, (no, this is not a contradiction), there is an audience beyond those who see your good works and glorify God here on earth, (Matthew 5:16). God purposes that the authorities of heaven, all heavenly beings, those who cannot even choose to worship God, would see His manifest wisdom, demonstrated, (shine, shown), through us, in the church, by His love, that they (this second audience), would also glorify Him. So then, we shouldn't care in the first place who sees what we do in service to the Lord on earth - because we know the Lord sees, and it is only for Him. But God has also purposed and intended, that He be glorified in heaven by how we exhibit His nature here on earth.
