Day 76 Differences in Personality and Self-Perception

Branch Staton
Response Commentary to corresponding entry from the Devotional "Man of Purpose and Power" by Dr. Myles Munroe.
It's tempting to not write anything in response to today's devotional because I feel like I wrote an entire response yesterday because I didn't agree with what the author wrote. But there were three comments or sections from his Day 76 writing that I agreed with. The rest were either too broadly generalized to be accurate, or in one case, outright comically false, (in my opinion). So, if I had to rewrite something inspirational on this topic, using elements of his text that I agreed with, it would include:
1. That men's jobs or career choices are generally, or often, extensions of their personality. That doesn't mean everyone will like their job or have even chosen their job, but that they will perform their job in a manner that reflects their personality.
2. In many instances, a woman who has the opportunity, will make her home into an extension of her personality. This may manifest as order or clutter, dark or light, rustic or modern, etc. But we shouldn't be trapped into over-generalization of how this will allow us to analyze our lives. Communication will always be the key to understanding each other. This brings me to,
3. Understanding our spouses’ personality traits can enable us to build up one another self-esteem. When we know how our partners perceive themselves, we can use that knowledge to encourage them into areas of growth, love, and security, within the home, and outside of the home.
